THE FAST LANE blog
“I’m cold” my son said while tucking him in.
I reached up to pull the cord that turns off his fan.
The whole fan fell from the ceiling and onto my face (electricians from the prior day did not screw it in appropriately).
The next day, I woke up with a black eye.
I also woke up intending to fly out to a conference, one where I was scheduled to be a panelist.
I panicked, thinking I can’t go through a whole airport, and get in front of people like this. Plus, it hurt like heck.
From the moment we wake up, there are a series of choices we get to make, and intentions we have. Sometimes they match, sometimes they don’t.
My intentions to be there, remained. I made the choice to go anyway, because there are amazing people who put this conference on with significant effort, a panel depending on one another, and an audience I still wanted to inspire.
Intention. Choice.
Was I afraid to be judged? What the assumptions would be? Absolutely. Did that matter in the grand scheme of things?
Not. One. Bit.
Life drops stuff on us constantly (and in this case, literally). When it does, it is our choice to follow our intentions and roll with it, or hide.
Don’t hide.
Keep moving.
Even if you don’t feel like it, don’t think you may look the “part”, or are worried about something.
Choose. To. Go.
