THE FAST LANE blog
When I was in my 20’s, I was told I couldn’t have a promotion because I didn’t have enough skinned knees, I hadn’t seen enough go wrong in life, made enough mistakes. I had everything else, but years of “that”.
I went home and wrote my boss a 3 page failure resume, listing every major setback in my life since I was 5 and broke my arm from running into a brick mailbox while looking in the wrong direction (lesson learned- never look backwards, you aren’t going that way).
Just because I don’t wear my failure doesn’t mean I haven’t lived it.
He offered me the promotion before lunch.
Today, I had the honor of watching the dawn of our new day. I saw the sun peeking over the horizon through the pitch black, slowly taking her full place in the wide sky. At first I thought how beautiful to be the sun, and always be the light... then I realized, it probably isn’t as easy as it seems. It must actually pretty hard to be the one to chase the dark away, every day, with persistence and grace.
We all have something to overcome.... but we all also have today. A new opportunity, a chance to think differently, an open invitation to decide what we want to make of what we have, and how to get where we want to go regardless of where we have been.
What will be your daybreak?
